{"id":707,"date":"2009-05-12T21:13:48","date_gmt":"2009-05-13T02:13:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/josh.ev9.org\/weblog\/?page_id=707"},"modified":"2009-05-12T21:29:52","modified_gmt":"2009-05-13T02:29:52","slug":"client-major-international-book-publisher","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/josh.ev9.org\/weblog\/portfolio\/client-major-international-book-publisher","title":{"rendered":"Client: Major International Book Publisher"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Leading a team of four, I helped design the latest version of this book publisher&#8217;s new online experience.<\/h4>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 1.5em; position: relative;\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"featured_img\" title=\"Client: Major Book Publisher\" src=\"http:\/\/josh.ev9.org\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/publisher.png\" \/>\n<\/p>\n<p>With this client, I facilitated a month long project inception process to ensure that business needs would be met, users would be delighted, and the development team would be ready to build.<\/p>\n<h6>What did I do?<\/h6>\n<p>Coordinating my team of two <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thoughtworks.com\/\" title=\"ThoughtWorks\">ThoughtWorks<\/a> Business Analysts, one Project Manager, and one Developer, I organized sessions to help understand our client stakeholders&#8217; goals for their new website. We gathered their requirements, built a project timeline, laid out the functionality that would be built, and estimated how long the work would take to complete. I worked directly with the client&#8217;s internal User Experience team to ensure that the site would cater directly to the needs of the people who use their current site, as well as groups of users who are not currently supported. A major focus of my work was to help the UX team to create a pattern library to use across the site. This simplified their design, and focused the types of functionality that would have to be built and supported across the lifetime of the site.<\/p>\n<p>Within four months of the inception process, the site was in production thanks to the hard work and dedication of the client team members, as well as my peers at ThoughtWorks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Leading a team of four, I helped design the latest version of this book publisher&#8217;s new online experience.
