I've heard chocolate works wonders on bum knees. The key is in the delivery to the system. A common mistake is standing upright while eating, so I recommend lounging with legs (both of them) up high on pillows (many of them). In some extreme cases, moving the mini-fridge stocked with beverages to the edge of the recliner or couch is required. Chocolates should come out of a box or bag, so there is the sense of an endless supply. Often, patients use the down time to catch up on the History Channel or Buffy the Vampire Slayer on DVD. I recommend the latter.

Good luck in your recovery. Remember: Family support may include courtesy trips to the dinner table to bring you food on a tray. Little known fact.

Keep your head up.
